MDW: Marketing project manager for a technology distributor. Sounds fun right? It is! The business itself is not sexy, but I work for a company with a great culture.
How would you describe your style?
MDW: My style is best described as trendy ladylike. I love feminine, classic pieces but I also love to mix in doses of trendy items.
Who or what most influences your fashion style sense?
MDW: Other women. Women I work with and see when I’m out, but mostly other bloggers! I am inspired by women who have similar tastes to mine or have a style that I want to emulate.
Celebrity most admired for their fashion style:
MDW: Reese Witherspoon, mostly because her style is so similar to mine. She’s a mom and knows how to look chic while in mommy mode or running errands but when she’s on the red carpet – she’s so sophisticated, elegant and glamorous – and always modest.
Your friends/peers know you best for what fashion accessory obsession?
MDW: Shoes. Where am I going to put all my shoes? I have a huge walk in and desperately need some shelves built to store them. Right now, they’re on racks, in plastic shoe boxes, on the floor – everywhere.
What colors are you most drawn to when choosing a handbag?
MDW: Beige, black and cognac. SO boring, I know! But I’m a practical woman. :)
When it comes to fashion ….a) what will you splurge on? b) What are most price conscience about?
MDW: Shoes. I am still very frugal when it comes to shoes but if I know I’m going to buy a pair that will last me for awhile; I am willing to spend more. I also buy them even if I don’t REALLY need them. Do I need as many pairs of shoes as I do? Probably not, but I LOVE having them. Shoes make me happy. Buying shoes makes me happy.
I am most price conscience about trendy items like jewelry and accessories. It’s the easiest and most inexpensive way to update your wardrobe as well as try trends in small doses that you’re not sure of yet, so I don’t spend a lot of money on accessories.
Describe the core focus/objective of your blog:
MDW: I show how to wear business casual on a budget. My work environment is relaxed but fun so I can be trendier – plus I work in marketing! It’s a great job. I am also a mom so I need pieces that I can wear outside of work but still be comfortable. Yes, my friends make fun of me for always being in heels, even with my kids, but I always choose comfortable heels. Although, I realize that’s an oxymoron for some. (Try wedges or stacked heels – when done right, they ARE comfortable!)
What has been the biggest surprise of all in regards to your experience running a blog?
MDW: The friends I’ve made! It’s amazing how many wonderful, supportive bloggers there are out there!
What are you most excited about to share with your readership in regards to Mimi Boutique’s accessory selection?
MDW: The trendy pieces! I also admire Mimi Boutique’s relationship with their customers and partners.
