Mimi Boutique is proud to introduce you to blogger Leslie from Fashion Du Jour!
Occupation:
FDJ: I’d tell you, but then I’d have to kill you. LOL I work for a women’s apparel direct sales company. What I love about my job is I’ve had the opportunity to learn pretty much all I ever wanted to know about clothes, from concept to customer. I play with and talk about clothes all day, so it really is a dream. Not to mention, I work with some really awesome women!
How would you describe your style?
FDJ: I tend to stray toward the minimalist/casual end of the spectrum but I love sprinkling pops of color in what I wear. I’m most comfortable wearing boyfriend jeans, a blazer, some awesome wedges and a tee. I love to look effortlessly chic, like I rolled out of bed, didn’t even brush my teeth but still managed to look like a million bucks.
Who or what most influences your fashion style sense?
FDJ: It might sound strange but what influences my style is a woman who has it all together when it comes to her job, her household, her social life, her family, etc and still manage to find time for herself and look amazing all the while. Women like this exude a confidence that some might call style. Two women who come to mind are Michelle Obama (duh) and Gwen Stefani. Clearly they have two completely different style profiles but they have this unmistakable confidence no matter what they wear. I want to look confident in what I wear so that I might inspire confidence in others.
Celebrity most admired for their fashion style:
FDJ: When it comes to a certain look that I admire, I can pretty much go on forever but here are my top 4 crushes of the moment: Shala Monroque, Taylor Tomasi Hill, Miroslava Duma and June Ambrose and Rihanna. If I had to narrow it down to one, I’d have to give it to Shala for her creativity.
Your friends/peers know you best for what fashion accessory obsession?
FDJ: My friends/husband know me best for obsession with shoes, but truly I’m obsessed with anything I can DIY. (do it yourself)
What colors are you most drawn to when choosing a handbag?
FDJ: When choosing a handbag, I am most drawn to solid brights and animal prints (leopard specifically).
When it comes to fashion ….a) what will you splurge on? b) What are most price conscience about?
FDJ: I’ve never been known to splurge because I get an awful case of buyer’s remorse which leads to returning whatever it is I splurged on. Honestly, I get a thrill out of how little I can spend on unique, fun and timeless pieces. I’m especially cost conscientious about items that are more of the trendy kind such as jewelry, nail polish and sometimes sunglasses. If I were to splurge, I’d either splurge on a watch or really nice handbag…okay, okay and SHOES!
Describe the core focus/objective of your blog:
FDJ: The core objective of my blog has been a work in progress. I don’t think I had any real direction when I started this thing. It just seemed like a fun hobby to try. As I became more involved with my Girls (readers) and as my personal life changed (I’m the wife of a preacher, I work full time, I now have two children under 4 years old and I’m pretty active in my husband’s printing company) so did the content of my blog. My blog now would probably be considered somewhat of a lifestyle blog. Not only do I share my (almost) daily styles, but you’ll find on most posts that I am sharing motivating, informative and helpful bits and pieces of my life along with material that I’ve come across in my daily reading. My goal is to provide a place where women can not only talk fashion, but also build relationships and even lasting friendships with women they wouldn’t have otherwise met. My hope is that as Girls travel from post to post, something catches their eye and feeds their souls with encouragement, because it’s true, you never know what someone might be going through.
What has been the biggest surprise of all in regards to your experience running a blog?
FDJ: The biggest surprise is one that was recently realized. My efforts to make this blog an edifying experience for my Girls has also become an edifying experience for me. I am constantly encouraged by my Girls and their stories of how something they read from a post gave them hope, made them laugh, inspired courage in an otherwise dim situation. For me, that has become what this is about and these stories are confirmation that I’m on the right path.
What are you most excited about to share with your readership in regards to Mimi Boutique’s accessory selection?
FDJ: My Girls already know my obsession with Mimi Boutique and I still get questions about that Chain Reaction Necklace (one of my most prized possessions) to this day! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked to buy it right off my body. I think my Girls would go ga-ga over all of the cute little clutches currently on MimiBoutique. I have this itching suspicion that Navajo prints are going to trend big this fall so I’m having a fit over the Ikat clutches in particular. The Jocelyn bracelet is super on trend with the arm candy look. I’m still truly-madly-deeply in love with the Adelynn Necklace and of course the Sharon Gold and Silver Leaf bracelet is a no brainer. There really is too much awesomeness to choose from.
