Mimi Boutique is proud to introduce you to blogger Erika from Café Fashionista!
Occupation:
CF: Currently I am a writer (freelance), and a second semester Grad Student. Aside from being a blogger, of course!
How would you describe your style?
CF: Ever changing. I don’t stick to one particular style; I basically flit from preppie to casual; rocker to bohemian; and everything in between! I dress according to my mood. The one thing that I always stay true to is comfort. Some of my key style staples are dark wash skinny jeans, riding boots, v-neck boyfriend tees, leggings, cardigans/blazers/jackets, and flippy skirts. I like to stick to basics that can be dressed up or down depending on how you style them, or what accessories you incorporate. In my opinion, basics are big investment pieces because they’re inexpensive but can be worn in a multitude of ways.
Who or what most influences your fashion style sense?
CF: Believe it or not, my fashion style sense is incredibly influenced by catalogs. Nordstrom, Free People, even the Shopbop.com lookbooks. I love seeing the way stylists put different looks together and adapting them to my own budget and shape. I find that this is truly the biggest influence to my fashion style sense. The only problem is that, when you see the entire outfit put together, you’re tempted to just purchase every piece featured and call it a day – which would basically leave you broke!
Celebrity most admired for their fashion style:
CF: I know that she’s a fictional character, but I have to say Blake Lively a la Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl. I am seriously obsessed with her wardrobe, and want everything she wears. If I were to choose a true celebrity, however, I think I’d go with…well, now that I think about it, Blake Lively. I guess I just love her and her alter ego’s style. Everything looks amazing on her. Plus, I love her hair.
Your friends/peers know you best for what fashion accessory obsession?
CF: Shoes! I have a very unhealthy (for my wallet) obsession with shoes – I never have enough. Truth? I didn’t start wearing heels until May of 2010 (I always wore flats); and now I live in them – and basically buy nothing but! Boots, stacked heels, wedges…you name it, I love it!
What colors are you most drawn to when choosing a handbag?
CF: Black, Cognac, and Wine/Plum colors. I always want my bag to be neutral but with a twist, which is why I love rich cognacs, wine, and plum shades.
When it comes to fashion ….a) what will you splurge on? b) What are most price conscience about?
CF: Shoes. My shoe collection is truly my prized possession. I can always justify a shoe splurge. Handbags, on the other hand, I am more price conscious about. I find that I tire of styles fairly quickly, so I always worry about putting too much money into a handbag unless it’s a truly classic, timeless aesthetic.
Describe the core focus/objective of your blog:
CF: Fabulousness! Café Fashionista is all about immersing yourself in all things fabulous in every spectrum of your life – shopping, music, beauty, dreaming… It is a melting pot of marvelousness – from bargains that will give you star style for less; to wish lists of items that will leave you salivating; and even weekly playlists to see you through shopping sprees, long workdays, or exam week. That is Café Fashionista’s core focus/objective.
What has been the biggest surprise of all in regards to your experience running a blog?
CF: The connections and bonds. Blogging has given me the chance to connect with so many people from all over the world who share similar thoughts as me. Not only has it given me the opportunity to network with these people, but to form really strong bonds with fellow bloggers. In fact, many of my closest friends are bloggers! So I would say that has been the biggest surprise to me in regards to my experience running a blog…the relationships you form.
What are you most excited about to share with your readership in regards to Mimi Boutique’s accessory selection?
CF: Affordability. Mimi Boutique makes it possible to indulge in luxe looks for less, so you can scoop up various styles (for what you would pay for one designer item), and have a bevy of beautiful bags in your collection!
Erika has been actively blogging for 3 years on Café Fashionista. Socially, she’s most active on Twitter!
